Ian Barnard, the visionary behind Eclipse Marine, brings decades of expertise and passion for maritime design. His journey began with an early fascination with maritime technologies and a naval military service at just 16 years old. Ian later joined his father in the commercial fishing industry in Mossel Bay, where his love for boats evolved into a thriving business. St Blaize Marine, now rebranded as Eclipse Marine, represents Ian’s commitment to innovation and excellence in boat building.

In early 2024, Hentie Wentzel partnered with Ian, bringing fresh investment and expanding the company’s horizons. Together, they capitalised on Ian’s proven boat designs, with over 50 successful vessels to his name. The hallmark of Eclipse boats lies in their signature curved aesthetics, seamlessly integrated with superior performance, cementing their reputation as industry leaders.

The first Eclipse 680 was launched in Mossel Bay, embarking on a month-long sea trial in Mozambique. This exceptional vessel amazed onlookers and seasoned boating enthusiasts alike, even exceeding Ian’s expectations. Today, Eclipse boats are proudly owned across South Africa, Zimbabwe, the USA, Australia, Mauritius, and Mozambique. With 12 models and more on the horizon, Eclipse Marine continues to deliver world-class boats designed for leisure and performance. Offering four hull sizes with three models per size, the range reflects the company’s commitment to research, innovation, and exceptional craftsmanship.
